Association of Indian Management Schools was established in the year 1985. One of the objectives of AIMS is to promote the faculty development among the member schools. As a part of this exercise, AIMS have undertaken various activities including conducting of Faculty Development Programme (FDP), and awarding Best Research Paper among the faculty members and students. Now AIMS is providing financial assistance to promote the research culture among the faculty members and member institutions. This research scheme is aimed at developing a good research work which brings out a good research publication by the faculty members. To ensure effective implementation of the research Grant Scheme, the Executive Committee has set a Research Committee comprising of eminent Academicians and practicing Managers.
Research Scheme:
One or more faculty members who are working in a specific area of their interest can submit a proposal in their research area that is subsequently expected to encourage further research activity.
One or two faculty members could work in a specific area of their interest and bring out publications in reputed international and national journal or have it published as a book.
Areas of Research :
The areas of research may include any discipline in Management. The proposals with inter disciplinary areas may also be encouraged.
General Guidelines :
1) The research scheme fund is available only to faculty member of institutions of the AIMS.
2) Each institute should carefully limit their number of research proposals to one or two which are forwarded to AIMS.
3) The applicant of the research proposal should be a full time faculty member of the institute and the proposal has to be forwarded by the Head of the Institution.
4) The applicant should not have received Grant or financial assistance from any other agencies on the specific research proposal.
5) AIMS will provide financial assistance to the extent of Rs.50,000/- for the proposal depending on the merit of the proposal from each region to be treated as ‘Matching Grant’.
6) Head of the Institution should guarantee an equal contribution of the proposal.
7) In case the faculty member who has received the Research Grant leaves the institution, the project may be transferred to another faculty member with the permission of AIMS.
8) The applicant who receives the grant has to file the Progress report once in every quarter to the AIMS.
9) AIMS has the right to terminate the project if the institution or the faculty member violates the rules with a prior notice to the institution.
10) No overhead expense is permissible for this project.
11) The Head of the Institution is responsible for settling the bills and to provide Utilization Certificate.
12) The output in the form of publications has to be submitted along with the final report of the project within the specific period of completion.
13) In any publications AIMS has to be acknowledged for funding the project.
14) The funding of the research Project is for a period of one year and the applicant is expected to complete the project within one year from the date of approval of the Project.
Procedures:
1) A proforma along with the research proposal has to be submitted on the dates specified by AIMS.
2) AIMS constituted Expert Committee will consider and recommend the proposal to the Executive Committee.
3) The Executive Committee is the final authority to accept or reject the proposal.
4) The duration of the research proposal may be for one year.
5) In case the research proposal is good and has shown a good progress, the extension of the project may be considered as a second proposal by the AIMS following all the rules for considering the proposal.
Research Committee:
The Executive Committee may nominate a four member committee and a Chairman for considering the research proposals.
The committee may consider the proposals once in 3 months before the Executive Committee Meet and makes recommendations on the proposals to the Executive Committee.
Every quarter the Executive Committee considers the proposals and reviews the progress of the research projects funded by AIMS.

FINANCIAL GRANT FOR CASE WRITING
The Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) may extend financial support to a faculty member for developing an exhaustive management case or a series of cases. The broad guidelines should be as under:
1. The applicant should be full-time faculty of a member institution.
2. The applicant should submit a proposal to the office of AIMS highlighting his/her plan including rationale, objectives and method.
3. A Committee of atleast three subject experts appointed by the Executive Board of AIMS would evaluate the proposal and decide whether to extend the financial support to a particular applicant or not.
4. Financial grant should be restricted to Rs. 25,000/-. However, it may also be given upto Rs. 50,000/- as matching grant to the amount received by an applicant from any other body.
5. 50% of the financial grant should be released on the acceptance of proposal, whereas balance should be released only after the case/cases has/have been submitted by the applicant and approved for acceptance by the Committee of atleast three subject experts appointed by the AIMS Executive Board.
6. The case should be of reasonable length, preferably of atleast 35-50 pages, or may be series of cases with each case being of minimum 5 pages – summing upto 35-50 pages.
7. The case may be problem/issue based or historical in nature.
8. The case should have questions at the end.
9. The case should be accompanied by TEACHING NOTE in the attached format.
10. AIMS may publish the case for wider circulation and use of the work done by the applicant.
11. Since the case will be property of AIMS, the copyright of the case should remain with the AIMS only. However, applicant should be given due credit by retaining his/her name as an author of the case.
12. AIMS would assign registration number to the case and document it accordingly.
13. The AIMS may even sell the case to anyone interested in buying on a reasonable price decided by the Committee appointed for evaluation of the case.
14. The author should not be entitled for any royalty.
AIMS may extend financial support for writing cases to the maximum of 4 proposals in a year.
